Papery Presents

I’m a stationary junkie. If it’s made of paper and wonderfully designed, I’ll probably buy it. That’s why my favorite stocking stuffers are notecards, prints and personalized stationary. Preppy, pretty colorful ones – like these!

Looking in the Window

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an ode to my favorite store in the world, Anthropologie, so I’m about due.

I had a crazy idea on the train this morning that I want to make a wall-sized fabric and paper art piece for the wedding reception. (Shhh – don’t tell my fiance, he’ll tell me I’m skipping ahead on planning!) Something along the lines of the cool drape effect Anthropologie often creates in their window displays.

In search of inspiration, I came across some pretty amazing images of Anthro’s windows:

I mean seriously, plants growing in hanging plastic bags? Amazeballs.

Lil’ Bit of Everything

I’m feeling a little scatter-brained today so I’m going to take some inspiration from Katy’s link lovin’ and include little snippets of all the goodies on my mind.

>> Love the the color palette and collection of images on this Flights of Fancy mood board:

>> Love the ombre effect of this ballon grouping.

>> I’ve been chasing down this sold-out MAC lipstick but given I own Pink Plaid and Girl About Town, they give a similar effect when layered. Love neon pink lips right now.

>> Loving the fresh faces and bright colors of the latest J. Crew catalog.

>> How did I not know about this British spoof cooking show until now? Hilarity.

>> Currently obsessed with orange/coral colors.

>> I think Shutterfly has done an awesome job providing more modern design and customization options for their photo books and invitations. (However, I am against making these with professional photos without the photographer’s permission!)

>> I love reading Saveur magazine. Whereas some other aspirational cooking and travel magazines make things seem far beyond reach, Saveur’s writing has a descriptive yet humble tone that makes me feel transported on a new adventure, instead of feeling like I’m listening to a boastful friend.

Girl Space Meets Boy Space

I love the way our apartment is coming together and now that frames are on the walls it finally feels like home. It’s been a fun challenge to merge items from both our styles in our living space and I think we quickly realized we’d have to find middle ground between man-cave-meets-country (him) and IKEA-meets-girly-glam (me).

The one place we easily come together is the kitchen and for him, my love of Anthropologie and European kitchen items seems to meet his approval as well. (Thank goodness!)

I was a spoiled girl this Christmas season with lots of goodies for the apartment so we’re set – YAY! – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few more items to put on my wishlist for the future, right?!

That is, of course, with my roomie’s approval…

1. Beurre Butter Dish, P.O.S.H. 2. Soap dispenser, Target stores 3. Bare Bulb Filament Pendant, Restoration Hardware  4. Espresso cup setP.O.S.H. 5. Stainless Steel Kitchen Scale, 6. Hungarian Mason Jars, Restoration Hardware 7. Staub Dish, Anthropologie 8. Pillow, Anthropologie

Scales are in.

As if Sally Hansen Nail Effects strips weren’t enough to keep me endlessly entertained, a Boston magazine blogger posted this about LCN‘s new Crocofever, a crocodile-effect topcoat. Yessssssss.

I’m not a fan of the shattered nail polish trend but I’m totally on board with anything that looks like a fancy leather purse.

I Wood Like to Make This

Today’s Design*Sponge features a DIY tutorial for making your own beautiful wood cutting boards. Awesome!

This would be a great hostess gift or wedding gift, especially if you came up with an easy way to carve the couple’s initials in the board, a la retro tree grafitti.

Here’s a link to the tutorial on the adorable blog Centsational Girl.

Anyone have a jigsaw I can borrow?

On the case.

I’m on a mad hunt for a new cosmetic case to store my makeup in.

1. Must have multiple clear pockets.
2. Must be large enough to hold around 25 MAC eyeshadows, a few blush, foundation compact, a few mascara and a few other random products. (Brushes and eyeliners are in a clear acrylic case on the counter.)
3. Must be easy to travel with in the case I need to bring all make-up with me.
4. Must be a cute design. (I mean, let’s be serious.)
5. Must not cost more than $50.

I feel like I’ve scoured all the usual suspects online with no success. This Kate Spade case below is the exact style I’m looking for, but unfortunately, it breaks criteria #5. ($135)

So keep your eyes peeled for the perfect case, gumshoes, and let me know if you spot a good one!
