Recent adventures (i.e. wedding planning and just regular ol’ daily life) have led me to a few little gems that have me excited and looking to spread the love!
In no particular order…
Postable.com. This genius little site makes address lists a breeze whatever the occasion – weddings, baby announcements or even simply holiday cards! Sign up for FREE, get a customized link to share and everyone inputs their own info and it does the rest of the work for you!
J Crew Weddings. After serious fits of indecisiveness with my bridesmaids dresses, I finally chose some silk chiffon dresses from J Crew and could not be more excited about the whole experience. I have to give massive kudos to their wedding specialists – I had a question on something I saw online, sent an email and got a quick response.
I also found out I could visit the store near my office and check out the dresses in person by making an appointment. I thought the appointment part was kind of annoying given I only wanted to look at the material in person but they got me an appointment the same day and the woman I worked with was extremely helpful. Plus, ordering through a wedding specialist means no shipping for my bridesmaids and personal service from a real person! (Sadly, a revolutionary concept in today’s retail world.)
BaubleBar Sale! One of my favorite sources for awesome jewelry without breaking the bank, BaubleBar is holding a friends and family sale from now until Oct. 28 – so act fast! Just use code BBFAMILY when checking out.
Amazing Halloween Treat. Something about Halloween makes me crave popcorn balls. Maybe it was the neighbor that handed them out when I was little but they just scream sticky fall treat to me! Tasting Table recently blew my mind with a recipe for Maple-Caramel Popcorn Balls made with all our favorite fall flavors, including apple cider! You better believe I’m tackling this recipe next week for Halloween night as I sit in my 2nd floor apartment wishing I had trick-or-treaters and eating them all myself!
Fall is almost upon us! Pumpkin beers are on the shelves and Starbucks is brewing up Pumpkin Spice Lattes, which means colored leaves and crisp air are right around the corner.
Time to swap out my shoe rack from sandals and sling-backs to boots and oxfords.
In my book, fall footwear requires a few staples — think brown leather and boots — and a few fun pieces to mix it up…
Brown leather and suede flats — non negotiable.
Kilty Suede Moc by Minnetonka Moccasin, $40; Kate Spade New York Hailey, $198
Black leather boots, both casual and a little more fun…
Indigo by Clarks Charlie Zip, $215; Vince Camudo Edorn, $159
Brown leather boots that go with plaid flannels or something to pair with a silk top and navy blazer.
Born Bitsy, $210; Frye Miranda Zip, $298
Oxfords for your boyfriend jeans — spend or splurge as you see fit!
Sanford by Splendid, $98; Loeffler Randall Joanna, $350
And a little something colorful to mix it all up…
See by Chloe Joanna Bootie, $350; Yosi Samra YS Patent/Polka Dot, $70
Who’s ready for the long holiday weekend already?! This girl!
We have a weekend planned of wedding errands and family time back in Iowa and my mouth is already watering in anticipation of the Mexican BBQ my parents are throwing for us Sunday night.
I’m also feeling like my brain is moving in twelve different directions this week, adjusting to a new schedule at a new job, checking off items on the wedding list and trying to squeeze in time for all the fun projects I like to give myself on the side!
In honor of this mental frenzy, here are some of the dozens of things that are flying through my thoughts right now:
I had a massive craving for homemade pizza on Sunday but didn’t have the motivation to brave a busy grocery store to grab ingredients — next time, I’m using this recipe from A Beautiful Mess
I had Chris print out this blog post last week so I could keep a copy of “10 Simple Things to Make You Happier at Home” within eyesight – wonderful reminders for daily routines
Last week I burned my arm with my curling iron attempting to follow a Pinterest demo – graceful. Maybe this demo from Camille Styles will help next time.
Maybe it’s just me but I always seem to eat my avocados too early or I’m a day late and they’ve already turned brown and mushy. The Kitchn has 30 Tips, Hints and Recipes for the Creamy Green Fruit and you best believe I’ll be taking notes.
How insanely beautiful is this garden oasis wedding on 100 Layer Cake?! Tres chic!
Whew! Things have returned to normal again now that the wedding venue and photographer are both on the books. I am a much calmer person this week. Hooray!
So it appears my favorite brand of all time has done it again. If you haven’t checked out Target recently, their newest designer-inspired collections are fabuloso. The Shops at Target were created and curated from real store fronts across the country and they’re an awesome mix of styles for everything from bath products to dog beds.
My first stop on the tour is from The Webster in Miami – clothing and accessories with a bit of Southern prep meets Miami Beach resort.
Here are my favorites from the collection:
From The Webster Collection at Target: Deco Print Dress, Coral Floral Bangle, Jacquard Skirt, Flutter Sleeve Dress, Cream Wallpaper Bag, Ruffle Trim Tank, Sleeveless Jersey Dress, Infant Miami Bouquets Dress, Bouquet Print Romper, Toe Cap Flat, Stretch Sateen Jacket, Leaves Drop Earrings
This may be the one time in my life I consider wearing something with a flamingo on it.
This weekend I’m going to Vegas for four days with friends from college and as you can imagine, I cannot be MORE. EXCITED.
My only current hang-up is what to wear for our big night out on Saturday – I don’t own a lot of dresses that really scream “a night on the Vegas Strip.” (I’m going to go ahead and attribute that to 60% of my wardrobe being from Target.)
I have a frantic shopping trip in my immediate future in a desperate attempt to strike shopping gold and basically anything with a sequin on it will come into the dressing room with me.
If my pockets were deep and all dresses fit perfectly, this is what the main contenders would look like:
Here’s hoping the fashion dice roll in my favor. If I end up empty handed, it’s nothing a few accessories on an old dress and cocktails can’t remedy. ;)

I just noticed that a handful of my latest pins on Pinterest are photos of an armful of shiny colorful bangles…

…apparently my watch is feeling lonely. I’m sure a few new friends from Henri Bendel would make it feel better…Bendels has a way with bangles!
I either lived in downtown Chicago too long to remember what real landscaping looks like or New England has a lot more flowering trees than the Midwest. Either way, I’m madly in love with all the blooming Magnolias, Forsythia, and bright purple and pink trees lining the Boston streets.
